5 Reasons why “Teamwork” is important.

Teamwork is very much essential in today’s multidisciplinary world. During the industrial era when most jobs were represented by people on a manufacturing line doing one thing all day – teamwork wasn’t as important as it is today, but it is not the case in the present times.

1.Teamwork provides improved efficiency and productivity

When an individual works in team he/she interacts, discusses, brainstorms ideas to reach a unique solution, in the process he/she gains from the expertise of other team members. Therefore it plays a very essential role in increasing the work efficiency and productivity of the individuals working and eventually benefitting the organisation and yielding good returns.

2.Teamwork invokes unity at a workplace

Someone rightly said, “Without Unity, any team is doomed for failure”. Such is the importance of Unity when it comes to work in an organisation. In a team, one works with a bunch of people, who may be different in race, culture or any other aspect but they work for a common goal. This brings a sense of togetherness and trust among the team members which eventually leads to improved work efficiency.

3.Teamwork offers differing perspectives and feedback

Working in a team means, each and everyone member is inclined towards the same goal, so when finding a solution for a problem, you’ll have different perspectives for the same problem. This is very beneficial as it helps to narrow out the best possible solution for the issue. Similarly different feedback from other members give you an insight about the key areas where we might be lagging behind. This also helps in improving the productivity of an individual.

4.Teamwork provides great learning opportunities

In today’s modern world not everyone is perfect. One may possess a skill, but lack the other. Same goes for the members of a team. While working towards a problem, one may or may not have the required skill for the particular work but, one of the other team member might have that missing skill set. So in the end every member has a great opportunity to learn from the other members and expand their skill set.

5.Teamwork promotes workplace synergy

Synergy, defined as cooperative or combined action when a diverse individual or a group combine together for a common cause. It makes a team stronger, and it provides an excellent platform for exchange of culture and knowledge, which is mutually beneficial for everyone.

Without the ability to effectively work in a team environment, you could delay the success of developing, formulating and implementing new and innovative ideas.
